Cádiz Carnival 2027: Where to Go Out in El Puerto

In 2027, Carnival Sunday falls on 7 February (Ash Wednesday is 10 February), so the Cádiz Carnival lands in the first half of February. The published calendar puts the street carnival from Thursday 4 to Sunday 14 February, with the final of the COAC, the song contest at the Gran Teatro Falla, on Friday 5 February. The Ayuntamiento de Cádiz hasn't published its full programme in a source we could check yet, so treat those dates as provisional. This guide is about the other half of the plan: where to carry on the night in El Puerto de Santa María, which is right across the bay.

What carnival means for a night out in El Puerto

Carnival falls in winter, when El Puerto is mostly a weekend town, so the key nights are the two carnival weekends: Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February, and Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February. Those dates fall on the usual opening days of most venues, according to what each one publishes: Banana says it opens every day, Gold and La Cristalera open on Fridays and Saturdays, La Cristalera Vistahermosa from Thursday to Saturday, and Guateque publishes its nights in the calendar on its page. Padreo opens in holiday periods and for special events, but has announced nothing for carnival.

“Usual days” means the date falls within the days each venue says it opens, not that a carnival party is confirmed. No venue in El Puerto has announced a carnival night yet; prices, line-ups and times will come with each announcement, and we'll add them here.

El Puerto's own carnival: how 2026 went

El Puerto de Santa María holds its own carnival, with its own dates. The 2027 programme is still to be announced; to give you an idea, these were the key dates in 2026, when it ran from 14 to 22 February, according to the town hall's programme:

• Children's parade: Saturday 14 February, 16:30.
• Opening speech (pregón): Friday 20 February, 20:00, Plaza del Castillo.
• Main parade: Saturday 21 February, 16:30, from Valdés to Plaza del Polvorista.
• Carousel of choirs: Saturday 21 February, 21:00.
• Gañotá: Sunday 22 February, 13:00, Plaza del Castillo.

In 2026, the parade on Saturday afternoon and the choirs that night made that Saturday El Puerto's big carnival night out. When the 2027 programme comes out, we'll put the dates here.

Getting between Cádiz and El Puerto

Plenty of people combine the two: the afternoon in Cádiz and the night in El Puerto, or the other way round. Our transport guide has the train, catamaran, bus and taxi options with timetables checked in October 2026. If there are special carnival services, Renfe and the bay's transport consortium announce them; we don't take them for granted. Sort out the way back before you go out.

Groups and tables

If you're going out as a group or in fancy dress, a table makes the night easier. Banana and Gold work with reservados. Message us on WhatsApp with the date, the number of people and your budget, and we'll tell you what's available once the venues open bookings for those weekends.
