What Guateque in El Puerto Is Really Like
Updated:
If you ask about going out in the centre of El Puerto de Santa María, Guateque comes up quickly. It's the club Grupo BanBan calls “our first CLUB!”, it plays mostly urban music and, unlike half of what opens in summer, it's still going in October. This is what you'll find when you get there, based on what the club and the group publish and, where they don't, on third-party guides that we name.
Where it is and how to get there
Guateque is at Plaza Juan de la Cosa, 2, in the old town. Third-party guides place it close to the Castillo de San Marcos, which makes it easy to find if you're walking from anywhere in the centre. Some older directories still list it on Bajada del Castillo: that address now belongs to Padreo, the group's other club, so don't let an outdated listing send you to the wrong door. From Banana, on Ribera del Marisco, it's about a 6-minute walk (Google Maps). If you come by car, the Centro car park on Plaza Isaac Peral is open 24 hours.
Who runs it
Guateque belongs to Grupo BanBan, the El Puerto company that started in 2013 with La Cristalera. In the group's timeline Guateque appears in 2015 and again in 2023. Its sister venues in town are Padreo, La Cristalera and La Cristalera Vistahermosa. One thing that confuses a lot of people: Banana, on Ribera del Marisco, is not part of BanBan. It belongs to a different company, Grupo Banana.

The room and the music
BanBan describes Guateque as a club with a playful design and phrases painted on the walls. It's not a minimalist room: the decoration is part of the plan, and its Instagram account leans on that same tone, with captions like “No rules. Just vibes.” and the hashtag #lavidaesunguateque. Musically the group is clear: urban dominates, with concerts and special sessions on certain dates. Expect reggaeton and current urban hits for most of the night.
Opening days and hours
Its posts don't publish a fixed weekly schedule, and the open hours listed by some directories don't match what the club actually posts, so we won't give you a timetable. What we can tell you is that it posted twice a week through September and October 2026, which is the clearest sign that it's open this season. For specific dates, the calendar on its page on this site pulls directly from the club's ticketing.

Guateque doesn't publish a dress code. Third-party guides say the door expects a smart look (“muy buena presencia”) and that the minimum age is 18 or 20 depending on the party. The ticket for each night shows the age limit that applies, so check it before you buy, especially if someone in your group is 18 or 19. Bring your DNI or passport: a photo on your phone won't do.
What it costs
The club doesn't publish a price list outside its ticketing. Third-party guides quote advance tickets “from €10 with one drink” and add that the price changes with the day and the event. Take that as a rough reference only (consulted 11/10/2026). The real price for each night is the one shown when you buy. On tables: those same guides say Guateque doesn't take bottle bookings at the moment, so plan your group night around tickets rather than a reservado.

How it fits into a night out
The centre of El Puerto is compact, and that's the good part. You can have dinner in the old town, start at La Cristalera by the river on a Friday or Saturday, and move on to Guateque later. If part of your group prefers something different, Banana (open every day, according to its bio) and Gold (Fridays and Saturdays) are also in the centre. Padreo, the group's summer club, is closed until it announces new dates. For the full picture of what opens which day, see our guide to clubs in El Puerto de Santa María.

Buying for the whole group at once avoids the classic problem of half of you getting in and the rest staying outside when it sells out.
