Where to Go Out in El Puerto de Santa María: the Nightlife Areas
Updated:
To go out in El Puerto de Santa María, head for the centre: Banana on Ribera del Marisco, La Cristalera by the Guadalete, Gold on Avenida Micaela Aramburu, Guateque on Plaza Juan de la Cosa and, in summer, Padreo on Bajada del Castillo, all within a six-minute walk of Banana. The other area is Vistahermosa, about ten minutes away by car, with La Cristalera Vistahermosa. Checked on 11 October 2026.
If you've read older guides, you'll notice two names missing: Puerto Sherry, whose beach clubs closed in July 2026, and Valdelagrana, where we haven't found a single club with activity this year. More on both at the end.

Walking times are Google Maps estimates from Banana's door (C. Ribera del Marisco, 13), checked on 11 October 2026. The days come from each venue's Instagram bio; Guateque sells its nights online, so its calendar is what counts.
Ribera del Marisco: Banana
Ribera del Marisco is the riverside street at the heart of the night, and its anchor is Banana, at number 13. It calls itself “The Night Club” and says it opens every day, which makes it the one sure option from Sunday to Wednesday. Since 25 September 2026 its Friday has a name, El Eskakeo. Banana belongs to Grupo Banana, not to Grupo BanBan, a mix-up you'll see in plenty of lists. It sells tickets online and takes table bookings.

Plaza de las Galeras Reales and the river: La Cristalera
A minute from Banana, on Plaza de las Galeras Reales, La Cristalera has a big terrace over the Guadalete. It's where Grupo BanBan started in 2013 and it's a pub-club rather than a nightclub: drinks, a DJ, a crowd that dances, and no big club door. It opens Friday and Saturday, starting in the afternoon, and brought its concerts back in October 2026. It's the natural first stop of the night, or the whole night if you'd rather stay by the river.

Avenida Micaela Aramburu: Gold
Four minutes on foot from Banana, at number 24 of Avenida Micaela Aramburu, Gold opens Friday and Saturday in winter. Its first weekend of the autumn shows the style: a salsa, bachata and kizomba session on Friday followed by a DJ, and Gold Night with a DJ on Saturday. It has VIP reservados, booked by message. In summer it opens far more often: Tuesday to Sunday in July 2026 and every day in August.

The old town: Guateque and Padreo
Two of Grupo BanBan's clubs sit in the old town. Guateque, on Plaza Juan de la Cosa, 2, is six minutes from Banana. The group calls it “our first CLUB”, the music is mostly urban, with concerts and special sessions on some dates, and it sells its nights online. Padreo, on C. Bajada del Castillo, 1, next to the San Marcos castle, is four minutes from Banana and only opens in holiday periods and for special events. In 2026 its season ran from 30 June to mid-August, and right now it's temporarily closed.

Vistahermosa: La Cristalera Vistahermosa
Vistahermosa is the residential area west of the centre, three kilometres from Banana: 42 minutes on foot or about ten by car, according to Google Maps. Its nightlife is the second Cristalera, opened by Grupo BanBan in 2021 in the shopping centre on Av. Juan Melgarejo, 29. It's a pub-club with views over the Bay of Cádiz, live music at weekends and tardeo, and it opens Thursday to Saturday. If you're staying around there, it saves you the trip into town; if you're in the centre, it's a taxi ride.

Puerto Sherry and Valdelagrana outside the summer
Puerto Sherry, the marina where PhiPhi, Blu, Playa Canalla and Margarita used to fill summer afternoons and nights, has had no beach club open since 6 July 2026, when their authorisation on port land expired and wasn't extended. A 2027 return has been mentioned, with nothing confirmed. Valdelagrana, the beach area towards Puerto Real, has seasonal beach bars, but we haven't found any club there with activity in 2026. Puerto Chico, a Grupo BanBan terrace on Avenida de la Bajamar, hasn't posted since September 2025.

From October to spring, El Puerto is a weekend town. On Friday and Saturday the centre has everything open except Padreo, and the whole night fits in a 400-metre radius around Banana. On Thursday your options are Banana and La Cristalera Vistahermosa. From Sunday to Wednesday, Banana is the only club that says it opens. In summer the map fills up: Padreo opens its season, Gold and the two Cristaleras open far more days, and the town fills with visitors.

The two Cristaleras work as a drinks bar with music, so they're the easiest warm-up: La Cristalera is a minute from Banana, and La Cristalera Vistahermosa is the plan if you start out west. Old guides also name other bars in the Ribera del Marisco and the old town. We only list places with confirmed activity in 2026, and we haven't been able to confirm those, so we leave them out rather than send you to a closed door.
